Seek Outside Divide 4800 2.0
The Seek Outside Divide 4800 2.0 is a lightweight yet highly durable backpack designed for hiking, packrafting, and other adventures where you sometimes need to carry significantly heavier loads than what standard ultralight backpacks are built for.
Divide combines a spacious 79-liter pack with Seek Outside’s rigid aluminum frame. Despite its sturdy carrying system, it’s lightweight—starting at about 1.3 kg, depending on the configuration. The backpack is handmade in Grand Junction, Colorado, USA.
The backpack can be customized with several optional accessories. You choose which ones you want, and you can easily deselect them from the drop-down menus when you configure your backpack.
Designed for both light and heavy loads
What sets the Divide apart from many other lightweight backpacks is its carrying system. It works well with a standard hiking load but really comes into its own when the weight increases. Seek Outside states that the Divide performs well with loads of approximately 14–23 kg, while the frame is designed to handle significantly heavier loads.
This makes the Divide particularly interesting for activities such as packrafting, longer trips with a lot of food, winter trips, or other occasions when your pack can sometimes get heavy.
Ultra 200X
The bag is made of Ultra 200X, a very lightweight and durable laminate of UHMWPE and recycled polyester. The material is waterproof and offers very high tear and abrasion resistance relative to its weight.
The bag closes with a roll-top and has no zipper on the main compartment, which reduces the number of places where water can get in. In very wet conditions, however, we still recommend using dry bags for sensitive gear.
Sturdy stretch pockets
On the front is a large UltraStretch pocket with about 13 liters of extra capacity. It’s perfect for rain gear, wet gear, or items you want to access quickly.
The large side pockets are also made of UltraStretch and can hold up to two Nalgene bottles per side. The material features four-way stretch and is significantly more durable than traditional stretch mesh.
Adjustable carrying system
Divide features Seek Outside's 4-Way Forward Pull hip belt, where the tension on the upper and lower sections of the hip belt can be adjusted for a better fit and to distribute pressure.
The standard frame is 24 inches and is well-suited for light to moderate loads. With frame extenders (sold separately here), the length can be increased to 26 or 28 inches. A longer frame provides better relief for the shoulders when carrying heavy loads and may also be a better fit for people with a long torso. The extenders can be installed and removed without tools.
Removable compression straps
The backpack has removable and adjustable compression straps that make it easy to customize the fit based on your load. The straps can also be connected to secure larger or bulky gear to the outside of the backpack.
The top tray is included and provides extra storage for small items you want to keep within easy reach. It can be easily removed when you want to keep the weight down.

Hip Belt – Size Guide
Measure the circumference around your body where the hip belt will sit, roughly at the level of the iliac crest. In other words, don't automatically measure where the waistband of your pants sits.
| Size | Hip Measurement |
|---|---|
| Medium | 74–86 cm |
| Large | 84–97 cm |
| XL | 91–107 cm |
The sizes overlap.
Can't decide between two sizes? Feel free to choose the larger size if you'll be using the backpack often in the winter with thicker clothing. For summer use, or if you tend to lose weight on longer hikes, the smaller size might be a better choice.
