Seek Outside Unaweep 4800 2.0
The Seek Outside Unaweep 4800 2.0 is a lightweight, highly durable, and flexible backpack designed for hiking, packrafting, and other outings where the size and weight of your pack can vary significantly. It’s just as well-suited for longer hikes as it is for adventures where you need to carry heavy or bulky gear.
The Unaweep features a spacious 79-liter main compartment and Seek Outside’s rigid aluminum frame. Despite its sturdy carrying system, it’s lightweight—starting at about 1.3 kg, depending on the configuration. The backpack is handmade in Grand Junction, Colorado, USA.
The backpack can be customized with several optional accessories. You choose which ones you want, and you can easily deselect them from the drop-down menus when you configure your backpack.
Designed for both light and heavy loads
Just like the Divide, the Unaweep is built around Seek Outside’s highly durable carrying system. It works well with a standard hiking pack, but really shines when the load is heavy, large, or bulky.
The main difference from the Divide is its flexibility. The Unaweep has a more comprehensive compression system and the ability to attach various Talon accessories to the outside of the backpack. This makes it easy to customize your pack to suit the needs of your trip.
Unaweep is particularly well-suited for activities such as packrafting, longer hikes, winter excursions, hunting, or other activities where you sometimes need to carry significantly more gear than usual.
Ultra 200X
The bag is made of Ultra 200X, a very lightweight and durable laminate of UHMWPE and recycled polyester. The material is waterproof and offers very high tear and abrasion resistance relative to its weight.
The bag closes with a roll-top and has no zipper on the main compartment. This results in a simple and sturdy design with fewer places where water can seep in.
The material is waterproof, but seams and other openings may allow water to seep through. In very wet conditions, we therefore recommend using dry bags for sensitive equipment.
Talon – Extra Storage and Smart Compression
One of the Unaweep’s major advantages is the ability to add the Seek Outside Talon system to the backpack. A Talon is a removable outer pocket that attaches to the front of the backpack using the compression straps.
Not only does it provide extra storage space, but it also functions as a compression panel. You can secure larger items—such as a packraft, a tent, a sleeping pad, or other bulky gear—between the backpack and the Talon pocket.
This makes it possible to carry gear on the outside of the backpack while keeping the load securely in place.
The Base Talon provides about 13 liters of extra storage space and features a large zippered compartment. It’s ideal for items such as rain gear, wet gear, or anything you want to access without opening the main compartment.
Talon is not included with the backpack but is sold separately as an optional accessory. The Unaweep works great even without Talon, and the standard compression straps can be used to attach gear directly to the backpack.
Spacious side pockets
The Unaweep has two large side pockets made of UltraStretch, a highly durable material with four-way stretch.
Each pocket holds up to two Nalgene bottles and can also be used for items such as tent poles, tripods, or other long, narrow gear.
Unlike the Divide, the Unaweep does not have a fixed, large stretch pocket on the front. Instead, storage can be expanded with the removable Talon system, which offers greater flexibility in customizing the backpack to your needs.
Adjustable carrying system
Unaweep offers Seek Outside's 4-Way Forward Pull hip belt, where the tension on the upper and lower sections of the hip belt can be adjusted for a better fit and to distribute pressure.
The standard frame is 24 inches and is well-suited for light to moderate packing. With frame extenders (sold separately here), the length can be increased to 26 or 28 inches.
A longer frame provides better support for the shoulders when carrying heavy loads and may also be a better fit for people with a long torso. The extensions can be attached and removed without tools.
The carrying system can also be supplemented with a removable Lumbar Pad for those who want extra support and pressure distribution across the lower back.
Flexible Compression System
The Unaweep features Seek Outside's Gatekeeper compression system with removable and adjustable straps. The system allows you to compress the backpack effectively when it isn't fully packed.
The straps can be repositioned and even connected to secure larger or bulky gear to the outside of the bag.
When used with a Talon (optional), the system is particularly useful when you need to carry, for example, a packraft or other bulky gear separately from the rest of your gear.
When the backpack isn't fully packed, it can be compressed into a much slimmer and more compact shape.
The top tray is included and provides extra storage for small items you want to keep within easy reach. It can be easily removed when you want to keep the weight down.

Hip Belt – Size Guide
Measure the circumference around your body where the hip belt will sit, roughly at the level of the iliac crest. In other words, don't automatically measure where the waistband of your pants sits.
| Size | Hip Measurement |
|---|---|
| Medium | 74–86 cm |
| Large | 84–97 cm |
| XL | 91–107 cm |
The sizes overlap.
Can't decide between two sizes? Feel free to choose the larger size if you'll be using the backpack often in the winter with thicker clothing. For summer use, or if you tend to lose weight on longer hikes, the smaller size might be a better choice.
