Seek Outside Unaweep 4800 2.0
Seek Outside Unaweep is a very light (about 1300 grams) and versatile backpack. The backpack is made of Ultra 200X™ material. In addition to being extremely light and durable, the material is also waterproof. The volume is 79 liters (not including external storage such as side pockets and rear stretch pocket).
Generally, other bags weighing just over a kilogram can handle up to about 10-15 kilograms of luggage. Any heavier and they will collapse or become uncomfortable to carry over longer distances. The Seek Outside Unaweep 4800 works best with packs between 15 and 25 kilograms, but has the capacity to handle over 50 kilograms of pack if needed. The Unaweep fills the gap between outdated heavy bags with high load capacity and newer ultralight bags with too low load capacity.
Seek Outside Unaweep 2.0 differs from other Seek Outside bags by using a so-called Talon. Unaweep can be used without a talon, but comes into its own with one. The purpose of the talon is partly to create an external storage area and partly to provide the possibility of strapping things in the space between the talon and the bag itself. This is particularly useful if you want to carry bulky equipment, such as skis, rifles, game, etc.
The advantage of a backpack made of waterproof material is that the material itself does not absorb water, which means that the backpack itself does not increase in weight in wet conditions. Please note that despite its waterproof material, the bag is not 100% waterproof, as water can penetrate through the seams of the backpack. Therefore, we always recommend that you pack in waterproof bags even in these bags.
The Seek Outside Unaweep 4800 2.0 is particularly well suited for weight-conscious hikers, pack rafters, off-piste alpinists, winter adventurers and hunters.
Please note that hip belt and heel are sold separately!
The backpacks are handcrafted in Grand Junction, Colorado, USA and offer a lifetime warranty.
Design
The bag is mounted on the external frame, together with the advanced carrying system. The carrying system is adjustable and can be used by anyone with a torso length over 38 cm. The bag, frame and carrying system can be disassembled and replaced or transported separately.
The frame is delivered 24″ long, but can be adjusted with a frame extender (sold separately) to 26″ (2″ extender) or 28″ (4″ extender). The standard 24″ length works for pretty much everyone, but if you need to carry extra weight or if you have a long torso, the use of extenders may be recommended (see table below for information if you need to add extenders to your order).
For more information on how to measure your torso length, see Seek Outside's article “Which Frame Height is Right for me?“.
Example: If you have a torso length of 45 cm and plan to carry 15 kilos in the backpack, you should extend the frame with a 2″ extender so you get a 26” frame.
Torso length | Carrying weight up to 13 kg | Carrying weight 13-23 kg | Carrying weight over 23 kg |
15″-16″ (38-41 cm) | 24″ | 24″ | 24″ or 26″ (buy 2″ extender) |
17″-19″ (42-48 cm) | 24″ or 26″ (buy 2″ extender) | 26″ (buy 2″ extender) | 26″ or 28″ (buy 2″ and/or 4″ extender) |
20″+ (49 cm+) | 26″ (buy 2″ extender) | 26″ or 28″ (buy 2″ and/or 4″ extender) | 28″ (buy 4″ extender) |
Seek Outside Unaweep 2.0 offers large main storage of 79 liters. In addition, there are two spacious side pockets in stretch mesh (with space for 2 nalgene bottles each), top lid (8 liters) and optional talon that holds about 10-15 liters.
The backpack has a total of 9 compression straps, all of which are removable and detachable. The compression straps can also be linked together to create a longer compression strap.
The external patented frame is very robust and made of 6061 T6 Aluminum.
A removable "horizon cross stay" is included with the purchase. It is mounted in the back and has the function of keeping the pack out of the back for significantly improved ventilation and comfort. Gram hunters leave it at home!

The material is waterproof up to 200+ PSI (≈13.8 bar), which corresponds to the pressure of over 140 meters of water depth. The bag also has a waterproof roll closure. In heavy rain, water can enter in small amounts through the seams of the bag, so despite the waterproofness of the material, we recommend users to pack their gear in waterproof bags inside the backpack.

8 reviews of Seek Outside Unaweep 4800 2.0
The absolute best bag I have in my possession.
I have carried 16-30 kg in it and it has felt like 15 kg overall, kind of.
Stable construction.
Does not absorb water into the material.
It kind of just swallows all the packing, feels like it just receives the details and places them itself 😂
My old frameless backpacks from Lundhags and Bergans that were so good in the 90s are still in the closet nowadays.
Have now had this bag two summer. I work as a guide and often carry heavy camera equipment, group equipment, packraft boat etc. The carrying system is awesome. This bag is very durable and handles heavy loads without hurting. Highly recommended.
If I'm going to say something bad, it's that I might have had the bigger one instead. It gets fully loaded quickly and when the carrying system is so comfortable you easily throw down too much stuff. Would have loved to have it at 103 liters.

Fantastic bag in every way. Search on Youtube to find several good reviews, including Matti Jokkmokkguiden (who wrote here above).
Johan Gärtner opened my eyes to Seek outside and Matti at jokkmokkguiderna sold me Unaweep 4800. Costs a penny fully equipped, but I'm sick happy! My kayak 75L is passed to the wind until further🙂
Unaweep 4800 became my choice of backpack, after I tried 3 different bags from other suppliers during my mountain adventures and Seek is without a doubt the best bag I have worn. Sits really well on my body and does not tire me out like other bags can do. Five out of five possible!!!
